Question: The olfactory receptor family is a large family of proteins. Do a BLAST search to evaluate how large the family is. Hint: As one strategy, first go to Entrez Gene and enter “olfactory receptor” limiting the organism to Homo sapiens. There are over 3100 entries, but this does not tell you whether they are related to each other. Select one accession number and perform a blastp search restricting the organism to human. Do the blastp with the default BLOSUM62 matrix and also using two other matrices (one appropriate for more conserved sequences and one more appropriate for divergent ones). Show some of your work with screenshots and present your findings in a tabular format (show matrix you used, E-value, %id, % positives, % gaps, GO:GE (Gap Opening/GapExtension) and number of records retrieved) and explain, in your opinion, what matrix provided the best approach. What happens if you search the RefSeq database (in addition to nr)? Edit
