tutor3 : Hello Student, May I help you with your Math problems?
student : yes, please. I have a statistics problems
tutor3 : yes
student : the problem is generate two random numbers between 0 and 1 and take x to be their sum. The sum x can take any value between 0 and 2. The density curve of x is the triangle shown in figure 10.7 ( a triangle) verify by geometry that the area under this curve is 1
tutor3 : there is nothing to verify you can directly state since its the density curve of x thus the area under it will always be one. refer to probability density function and you will get the details to supprt the logic
student : i understand. how would i explain what the probability that x is less than 1?
tutor3 : you have to verify the area under the curve is 1 and that is the main fact that underlines density curves.explain in that way
student : thank you
tutor3 : welcome
