tutor2 : Hello Student, May I help you with your Math problems?
tutor2 : hi
student : hey
tutor2 : math problem ?
student : I need some help with some equation stuff the question is....
student : Find tthe equation of the line that perpendicularly bisects the line that passes through (4,-7) and (-1,3). Find where this intersects with y=2x+1
tutor2 : first find the equation of the line using (4,-7) and (-1, 3)
student : okay i will do that now
tutor2 : eq. of the line is : (y+7)/(-7 - 3) = (x - 4)/(4+1)
tutor2 : or, 5(y + 7) = -10(x - 4)
student : okay
tutor2 : 10x + 5y + 75 = 0
tutor2 : perpendicular line of this line is : 5x - 10y + k = 0
tutor2 : to find the value of k pas this line with mid point of (4,-7) and (-1,3)
student : okay but i am unsure about the eq. of the line part because i learnt to do y1-y2/x1-x2
tutor2 : now mid point is (4 -1/2 , -7 + 3/2) = (3/2 , -2)
tutor2 : So, 5*(3/2) - 10*(-2) + k = 0
tutor2 : k = 20 - 15/2 = 12.5
tutor2 : The required eq. 5x - 10y + 12.5 = 0
tutor2 : Please note, due to lack of resources, we can only do 1 problem FREE in 24 hours period. You can always come back tomorrow for another free problem. Please, tell your friends about our free service - 1 free in 24 hours
student : okay thank you bye
tutor2 : bye.
