tutor3 : Hello Student, May I help you with your Math problems?
student : hi how would you find the area of the region that lies inside r=4sin(theta) and outside r=2
tutor3 : i have just mailed you an answer for ht eparabola
tutor3 : the parabola
tutor3 : Please note, due to lack of resources, we can only do 1 problem FREE in 24 hours period. You can always come back tomorrow for another free problem. Please, tell your friends about our free service - 1 free in 24 hours
student : since you did the parabola problem is it possible for u to show the steps rather than just the answer
tutor3 : ok
tutor3 : let P(x,y) be any point on the parabola. according to theorem MP=FP(ie the distance of the point P from the focus is e times the distance from the point on the directrix) for a parabola e=1
student : ok
tutor3 : soapply distance formula to find the dsitance between P(x,y) and focus (1,-1)
student : i did (y-5)^2 = (x-1)^2 + (y+1)^2;
tutor3 : yes .Now solve.
student : i got -12y = x^2 - 2x - 23. is this the right way to do it, i did it the same way in exam and my professor marked it as wrong
student : we have the formula of y^2 = 4px and x^2 = 4py
student : hey are you there
tutor3 : yes
student : so this is the right answer or do we need to use the formula that I have above
tutor3 : This is the right answer.you can leave your answer uptil this.
tutor3 : They will contact you after you send your questions! thanks
student : i solved for y by divinding both sides by -12
student : thanks for your help
tutor3 : You can fax your homework to 206-339-8302 or, email to tutor@aafter.com
student : thanks
