**Find the volume of a circular cone whose height is 3 cm and slant length is 5 cm.**

**Solution:** Let OB, VB and VO be the radius of the base, slant height and height of the cone.

VO^{2} = VB^{2} - VO^{2} = 5^{2} - 3^{2} = 16

Therefore, VO = 4, i.e. r = 4 cm

Area of base = Π r^{2} = Π x 4^{2} = 16 Π cm^{2}

Volume of cone = 1/3 Π r^{2} h = = 1/3 x 16 Π x 3 = 16 Π

= 16 x 3.142 = 50.3 cm^{2}
