The volume of a metallic sphere is 38808 cu. cm. Find its radius and surface area (use π = 22/7).

Solution: Volume of the metallic sphere = 38808 cu. m

Therefore, 4/3 x π x r3 = 38808

r3 = 38808 x 3/4 x 7/22

= 21 x 21 x 21

Hence, r = 21

Radius of the sphere = 21 cm.

Curved surface area of the sphere = 4 π r2

= 4 x 22/7 x 21 x 21

= 5544 sq. cm
