Solve : 3 x - 2 y = 6 and x / 3 - y / 6 = 1 / 2

Solution:

3 x - 2 y = 6 ------------------------------- (i)

and, x / 3 - y / 6 = 1 / 2

=> 2 x - y = 3 ----------------------------- (ii) [on simplification]

Multiplying equation (ii) by 2, we get :

4 x - 2 y = 6 ------------------------------ (iii)

Subtracting equation (i) from equation (iii) we get

x = 0

Substituting x = 0 in equation (i), we get

3 X 0 - 2 y = 6

=> y = - 3

Therefore, x = 0 and y = - 3
