1. Is the following fractions is in its lowest terms?

16/25

Solution: In 16/25, we have : numerator = 9 and denominator = 15

Now, 16 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2

and 25 = 5 * 5

Therefore, H.C.F. of 16 and 25 is 1.

Hence 16/25 is in its lowest terms.

2. Reduce 72 / 90 to its lowest terms.

Solution: In 72 / 90, we have : numerator = 72 and denominator = 90

Now, 72 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 3 and 90 = 2 * 3 * 3 * 5

So, H.C.F. of 72 and 90 = 2 * 3 * 3 = 18

Therefore, 72 / 90 = (72 / 18) / (90 / 18) = 4/5

Hence, 72 / 90 in its lowest terms is 4/5.
