Show that the points A (-6, -3), B (1, 4), and C (5, 8) lie on a straight line.

Solution: A (-6, -3), B (1, 4), and C (5, 8)

Area of triangle ABC = ± 1/2 [-6 (4 - 8) + 1 (8 + 3) + 5 (-3 -4)]

= ± 1/2 [24 + 11 - 35] = 0

Therefore, A, B and C are collinear.
